Graduate Researchers
Brian Budd is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. His doctoral research is focused on exploring the representation of Indigenous-settler reconciliation in Canadian news media. He has also written on the role of populism in Canadian federal and provincial politics, with a specific focus on political leadership, ideology and discourse among right-wing politicians and parties. He currently holds a doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Jackie Gillis is a doctoral candidate in the University of Guelph’s Political Science department. Her research examines the bridging of Indigenous and Western types of knowledge systems in the creation of adaptation strategies through interrogating the power dynamics which shape collaborations between Indigenous peoples and municipal governments.
